"For a person to endure such tragic events and use these circumstances as a platform to try prevent other lives being destructed to me is the definition of selflessness and strength.
Rosie has touched the lives of many, mine being one of them. After seeing her story on 4 Corners in early 2013 I was overwhelmed to paint a portrait of her son Luke. Rosie accepted the gift and she went onto make Luke’s portrait the face of the Luke Batty Foundation established later on that year. It was incredible to meet Rosie this year almost a year to date from our initial contact to paint her portrait.
So this is Rosie in my eyes… a gentle nature, a caring person, a loving mother and an inspiring woman."
My portrait of the inspirational Australian of the Year, Rosie Batty, was selected in the top 55 artworks to exhibit in the 2015 Portia Geach Memorial Award.
